Neuromodulators
(Botox/Nuceiva) in Calgary
Erasing marks of aging for a more youthful, rejuvenated
appearance and preventing future lines from occurring
Botox® Cosmetic, or onabotulinumtoxinA and Nuceiva, or prabotulinumtoxinA , are safe, effective, quick treatments for reducing or eliminating facial lines. Unlike injectable fillers which work by restoring volume to wrinkles or depressions, Botox® and Nuceiva work as neuromodulators to relax the muscles responsible for certain expressions. Expressions like smiling, laughing, frowning and even looking puzzled cause the muscles of the face to contract.
How do neuromodulators work?
Over time, the repeat skin creases that occur as the muscles contract can turn to permanent wrinkles and furrows in the skin. Botox® and Nuceiva work by erasing these marks of aging while also preventing future lines from occurring.
Botox®/Nuceiva is a temporary fix (it usually lasts 3-6 months), but it is a simple procedure that can generally be done in an hour or less. There is no downtime and little to no discomfort. Botox®/Nuceiva is ideal for treating crow’s feet, frown lines, horizontal forehead lines, worry lines around the mouth, lines on either side of the nose, and lines or bands on the neck for a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.

FAQ
Botox
How long does Botox last?
Botox is one type of neuromodulator. Neuromodulators work by blocking a signal from the nerve to the targeted muscle that prevents it from contracting. By preventing the contraction of these specific muscles, there is less action or pull on the skin and a decrease in the formation of wrinkles. Eventually, the action of the neuromodulator will wear off and the nerves will again be able to send those signals to the muscles to start working or contracting. In general, Botox lasts 3-4 months.
